Phnom Penh (FN), June 5 – Presiding over a closing ceremony of National Game II on Monday at Olympic Stadium, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen called on city-provincial authorities to establish public sport facilities for people to access.
"On top of education, people's health is important. I have repeatedly called on city-provincial authorities to setup sport and exercise facilities for our people to be healthy," stated the premier.
Prime Minister Hun Sen said that sport is not only about competition. Sport prevents diseases, especially heart disease and stroke.
He urged local authorities to strengthen the physical well-being of Cambodian children and youths.
The premier supported the theme for the National Game II "Sports for Peace and Development".
With the congratulations for the success of the National Game II, the premier urged all compatriots to safeguard peace and ensure development for national development.
Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed gratitude for the late King Father, who built the national stadium, along with the infrastructure to serve athletic activities.
He thanked the leaders of sports, athletes, sponsors, and all provincial authorities for their efforts to make the national game a success.
The national game will be held again in 2020 and 2022.
