Battambang (FN), May 31 - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife Bun Rany presided an inauguration ceremony of $230 million Battambang Conch Cement Company Limited, located on a 316-hectare of land on Thursday at Rattanak Mondul district, Battambang province.
“I'm proud of a new achievements took place in this war-torn territory. The cement factory was established by a joint venture between China's Conch International Holding (HK) Limited and Battambang KT Cement Co., Ltd., with a production capacity of nearly 2 million tons of cement annually, providing opportunities for Cambodia’s supply of construction materials to meet domestic demand and exports”, stated the Prime Minister.
The premier also encourages housing and constructions to use steel and cement in order to prevent loggings.
"We do not only want to fulfill domestic supply, but also to export”, said the Prime Minister.
Cambodia used to import cement from foreign countries, but today Cambodia has four cement factories, capable of producing up to 7 million tons of cement per year.
Kampot Cement Co., Ltd. is located in Kampot province with a production capacity of nearly 2 million tons of cement per year.
Cambodia Cement Chakreyting Co., Ltd. is located in Kampot Province with a production capacity of approximately 1.1 million tons of cement per year.
Chip Mong Insee Cement Corporation is located in Kampot province with a production capacity of nearly 2 million tons of cement per year.
The fourth factory is Battambang Conch Cement Company Limited, which was officially launched on Thursday morning.
