Phnom Penh (FN), May 30 - The 20 political parties racing in the July’s national elections agreed on the ballot paper prepared by the National Election Committee (NEC) following a review at 3p.m at the NEC headquarter on Wednesday.
Signing, marking, crossing and plus signs are accepted as a valid vote in order to reduce the number of invalid votes, according to Dim Sovannarom, Spokesperson of the NEC.
A party requested that the ballot paper shall be printed in color, but was rejected due to excessive expense.
Dim Sovannarom clarified that the suggestions are not possible if they are contrary to the NEC’s rules and regulations, however, the NEC will not hesitate to fulfill any suggestions in accordance with the laws.
NEC has spent $2.6 million to print 10,525,650 ballots, and that one ballot paper costs about 990 riel (0.25 cent).
Cambodia will hold its 6th mandate National Assembly Election on July 29, 2018.
As of today, 8.3 million has registered to vote.
