WASHINGTON, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Former U.S. President George H.W. Bush was hospitalized Sunday for low blood pressure and fatigue, according to his family spokesman Jim McGrath.
The elder Bush was taken to Southern Maine Health Care and "will likely remain there for a few days for observation," McGrath tweeted Sunday afternoon, adding that the nation's 41st president is "awake and alert, and not in any discomfort."
Bush, 93, returned to his family compound in the state of Maine for the coming summer last weekend. His wife, Barbara, died last month.
The elder Bush, who was president from 1989 to 1993, was recently hospitalized for two weeks with a blood infection after Barbara's funeral.
On Saturday, Bush celebrated Memorial Day by enjoying breakfast with veterans at the American Legion Post 159 in Kennebunkport, where his family's summer vacation home is located.
