SEOUL, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will make an official visit to South Korea next month at the invitation of President Moon Jae-in, the Blue House of South Korea said Friday.
The Blue House said in a statement that Duterte will visit South Korea from June 3 to June 5 and hold a summit with Moon on June 4.
During the summit, the two leaders will strengthen the bilateral cooperation relationship, discussing ways to beef up bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, defense, agriculture, culture and personnel exchanges.
Kim Eui-kyeom, Moon's spokesman, said the South Korean government was pushing for an expanded cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Moon and Duterte met in the Philippines in November last year on the sidelines of the ASEAN+3 summit and the East Asian Summit.
Duterte would become the first president among the ASEAN members to visit South Korea since Moon took office in May last year.
