Phnom Penh (FN), May 25 - Swedish Director-General of International Development of Cooperation Johannes Oljelund praised Cambodia's remarkable growth and transformation with development and absolute peace.
His statement was made during a meeting with Cambodian Minister of Economy and Finance Aun Pornmoniroth on the project to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Cambodia and Sweden at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) in Phnom Penh, on Thursday.
Aun Pornmoniroth warmly welcomed Johannes Oljelund's visit to Cambodia and expressed his profound gratitude to the people and the Government of Sweden for actively contributing to the socio-economic development of Cambodia, such as the Public Financial Management Reform (PFMR) and the Decentralization and Deconcentration Reform (D&D Reform).
The minister also mentioned Cambodia's recent progress with strong annual economic growth of around 7% over the past two decades.
Public administration has achieved better governance, accountability and effective public service as a result of the Royal Government’s effort, particularly the implementation of the Rectangular Strategy phase III and the reforms.
The Director-General said that as the 2014-2018 Strategy for Swedish International Cooperation in Cambodia will be completed soon, Sweden will prepare the 2018-2022 phase by updating existing development cooperation and the strategy in accordance to Cambodian government’s policies.
He also expressed his support for the development and cooperation in Cambodia to expand Cambodia-Sweden cooperation for the benefits of the two countries and the people.
