Phnom Penh (FN), May 22 - Speaking at a graduation ceremony of Royal University of Law and Economics on Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that the National Assembly 6th mandate election will be held on July 29, 2018 as scheduled.
"We will continue to promote peace and democracy through the election process on July 29, 2018, and that Cambodia is not a hostage of any person, group, or political party. Electoral process must run without delay,” Prime Minister Hun Sen stated.
So far, 20 parties have registered to race in the election. The NEC has officially recognized 16 parties and is reviewing the applications of the other 4.
The premier also reacted to former opposition party Sam Rainsy for accusing Prime Minister as a man behind the newly created parties.
He said Rainsy's statement insulted the new parties.
