Phnom Penh (FN), May 21 – The 5th India-CLMV Business Conclave was officially presided over by Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong, and attended by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister, Senior Officials, and Private Sector from India and the CLMV countries, at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel in Phnom Penh from May 21 to 22, 2018.
Speaking at the 5th India-CLMV forum on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong said the India-CLMV Business Conclave is an important roadmap for economic development between India and the CLMV countries such as Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.
“Over the past two decades, Cambodia has maintained an average annual growth rate of around 7%, which has transformed Cambodia from "low-income" country into "low-middle-income country," said Hor Namhong.
"I expect that this conclave will actively contribute to the CLMV’s trade and economic development with India to maintain sustainable growth for regional economic integration," he added.
He said that for the rapid changes in the political and economic environment, Cambodia is committed to working with India, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam to take the best of opportunity for sustainable development in each country and in the region.
Minister of Commerce Pan Sorasak said that India, in collaboration with Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, has successfully hosted four trade fairs.
The 2013 forum focused on creating new economic opportunities in New Delhi, Republic of India.
The 2014 forum focused on "ASEAN-India Economic Integration: The Way Forward" in New Delhi, Republic of India.
The 2016 forum focused on "Successful Indian-Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam Economic Integration: Establishment of Local Value Chains" in Tamil Nadu state, Republic of India.
The 2017 forum focused on "Economic integration between India and Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam: a path towards sustainable development" in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.
