Phnom Penh (FN), May 19 - Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) informed the public that both old and new mines and explosive remnants of war in Cambodia are active and could cause deaths or injuries anytime, according to CMAA’s press release dated on Saturday.

CMAA calls on people or any national and international organizations working on mine sector in Cambodia to continue the close cooperation and partnership with CMAA; and to report any mine-related news to CMAA prior to dissemination to avoid misleading the public.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen reacted strongly to the leader of NGO working on demining sector based in Cambodia, who claimed that mines in Cambodia are expired and inactive, speaking at the closing ceremony of the National Mine Action Conference “Toward a Mine Free Cambodia, 2025” on Thursday afternoon at Peace Palace.

Cambodians are still vulnerable to landmines.

Recently people in Preah Vihear and Banteay Meanchey provinces suffered from mines explosion, which required the Royal Government to continue solving not just landmine, but also cluster and chemical bomb.
