Phnom Penh (FN), May 14 - Dim Sovannarom, spokesman of National Election Committee (NEC), announced on Monday morning that the NEC did not postpone the registration of the political party for the National Assembly 6th mandate election.
The NEC clarified after the Phnom Penh Post on Monday morning, cited another spokesman Hang Puthea's words that the NEC postponed the registration of the political party, since only four parties have registered.
According to Dim Sovannarom, Monday is the last day for the registration.
"The law does not allow the NEC to extend the date of the registration of political party and candidates for the 6th mandate election”, Sovannarom said.
"Upon receiving the application, the NEC has one week to review and decide. In case of missing documents, the NEC issued a notice to the party to fulfill the criteria within five days”, Dim Sovannarom added.
As of today, four parties already registered, while nine political parties will submit their applications to the NEC this afternoon.
