Phnom Penh (FN), May 12 - In the meeting with National Police General Neth Savoeun on Saturday, Minister of Public Security of the People's Republic of China Zhao Kezhi pledged to continue installing security cameras across Cambodia.
"Chinese will assist on installing security cameras nationwide, but let us plan and do it step by step”, said Gen. Kirth Chantharith, spokesman of the General Commissariat of National Police.
He added that the cameras installed to ensure public safety and are required nationwide.
General Kirth Chantharith added that Zhao Kezhi also pledged to continue building capacity for Cambodian police.
He thanked Zhao Kezhi for strengthening the relationship between Cambodia and China.
So far, 1,000 units of security cameras has been installed throughout Phnom Penh with the help of China, Vietnam and the Cambodian government's budget.
The government will install security cameras in major provinces such as Siem Reap and Sihanoukville.
