Phnom Penh (FN), May 11 – Cambodia is China’s ironclad friend and that China supports Cambodia’s interests, Zhao Kezhi, Minister of Public Security of the People's Republic of China, declared in a meeting with Prime Minister Hun Sen at Phnom Penh’s Peace Palace on Friday.
"Zhao Kezhi’s purpose of visit is to strengthen cooperation on law enforcement and security," said Eang Sophalleth, personal secretary to Prime Minister Hun Sen adding that "Zhao said that Cambodia is an old-time friend and a good friend of China; the Chinese side will continue to support everything of Cambodia’s key interests and comprehensive development in a bilateral and multilateral frameworks”.
Prime Minister Hun Sen expressed his appreciation for Zhao’s visit and the relations and cooperation between the two countries.
He also highlighted the exchange visits between the top leaders of the two sides that led to the signing of many agreements being implemented today.
The premier also welcomed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between China's Security Ministry and the Ministry of Interior Friday evening.
Zhao Kezhi led a delegation to visit Cambodia from May 10-12, 2018.
According to the agenda, he will pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hun Sen, and Interior Minister Sar Kheng; sign a memorandum of understanding on combating terrorism and telecommunication offenses; and release a joint statement between the two sides.
