Kratie (FN), May 10 - Kratie police chief Lun Sophat said that by Thursday, 300 people affected by contaminated water and excessive methanol alcohol in Kratie are allowed to return home and that only three remain at hospital.
The results of the experiments on polluted water contains 12.39 part per billion (ppb) to 26.12ppb of chemical compounds from pesticide, exceeding the standard of 0.5ppb, according to the Ministry of Health’s press release issued on Tuesday.
Minister of Health Mam Bunheng called on people in the affected area to stop using the water immediately to avoid further incidents.
The number of victims harmed by the contaminated water since Thursday in the above district have increased to 280 on top of the 13 deceased as of Monday morning, according to Chhneang Sovatha, director of Kratie’s health department.
