Kratie (FN), May 7 – 44 victims in Kratie’s Chlong district were allegedly poisoned by consuming Khmer rice cake (grilled Ansom) on Sunday; however, all of the victims have been healed after one night at Kratie’s hospital, according to Kratie’s police chief Lun Sophat on Monday morning.
Ministry of Health, on Monday, also clarified the cause of rice wine poisoning in Kratie province, while the causes of water pollution in Kratie's Chet Borey district have yet been found.
Kratie’s governor Va Thorn explained that the rain washed pesticide into the stream, making the water polluted for drinking.
The number of victims harmed by the allegedly polluted water since Thursday in the above district have increased to 200 on top of the 13 deceased as of Monday morning, according to Chhneang Sovatha, director of Kratie’s health department.
Currently, 134 victims are being treated at a local hospital, while some serious injured victims were sent to hospital in Phnom Penh.
