Phnom Penh (FN), May 3 – Cambodia sent 428 blue berets, 24 female, to Mali and South Sudan for the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission.
The sending-off ceremony was presided over by General Pol Saroeun, General of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) on Thursday at Phnom Penh International Airport.
Those 428 blue berets include 165 crewmembers, 144 demining forces, and 119 gendarmeries.
2018 marks the 12th year that Cambodia has sent forces to join the UN mission with other 123 countries around the world.
Today, 813 Cambodian army forces, 50 Women, have been tirelessly carrying out UN peacekeeping missions in five countries.
As of today, Cambodia has sent 5,257 blue berets to eight countries, including Sudan, South Sudan, Lebanon, Cyprus, Syria, Chad, Mali and Central Africa.
Cambodia's forces have learnt on many skills, including demining, demolition of unexploded remnants, armed capacity, healthcare, engineering and observation.
