Phnom Penh (FN), May 1 – Chantak Khmer Party led by Kong Mony Ka, the youngest son of Kong Korm, former leader of Sam Rainsy Party, planned to appoint candidates to all the constituencies across the capital/provinces and that the party’s leader Kong Mony Ka will represent Phnom Penh, according to the party’s spokesman Hing Yoeun.

“The party has 117 official candidates and 177 reserved for the 25 constituencies of the 6th mandate National Assembly Member Election,” Hing Yoeun said.

“The purpose of creating this party is to revive the spirit of our supporters in 2013 and 2017 and mobilize other Cambodians who care about the Kingdom,” he added.

Dim Sovanarom, spokesman of the National Election Committee, said that the 15-day registration started from April 30 and will end on May 14, 2018.

The spokesman said that 18 political parties have received registration forms from the NEC, but that he was not sure how many will register for the July’s election. So far, two parties, including CPP and the Cambodian Youth Party have submitted their candidacies.
