Phnom Penh (FN), April 25 – Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC)’s Secretary-General Sok Chenda Sophea said the biggest investment capital in Cambodia is from China, speaking at the Cambodia-China Business Forum for International Production Capacity Cooperation at Sofitel Phnom Penh on Tuesday,

The Cambodia-China Business Forum 2018 aims to explore ways to further boost economic, trade and investment ties between the two countries, particularly on production capacity cooperation.

"From 2013 to 2017, China alone had invested $5.3 billion, the largest investment capital in Cambodia, with an average increase of $1 billion per annum and development in sectors, including banking, industry and infrastructure," according to CDC’s report.

“In 2017, Cambodia welcomed 183 projects from every country in total worth of $6.3 billion, an increase of 75%, compared to 2016, which was $3.6 billion,” the report added.

According to CDC, within the first three months of 2018, CDC granted licenses to 36 new Chinese projects and three existing projects, together worth more than $400 million.

Held on the year of Cambodia-China 60th anniversary of diplomacy, the forum also strengthens comprehensive cooperation; promote cooperation on industry sector of the two nations; and to harmonize the One Belt One Road initiative, the 13th Five-year Action Plan of the Chinese Government, and Cambodia Industrial Development Policy 2015 – 2025 of the Royal Government of Cambodia.
