Phnom Penh (FN), April 23 – Samdech Say Chhum was re-elected as Senate President in the first sitting of the Senate in the 4th mandate on Monday.

The sitting was presided over by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni attended by Cambodia's top dignitaries, including President of the National Assembly Heng Samrin, Minister of Interior Sar Kheng, as well as senior officials and ambassadors.

The Cambodian Law on Election of Members of Senate stipulated that the Senate shall compose of as many as half of the entire members of the National Assembly; two senators shall be appointed by His Majesty the King; two senators shall be elected in comparative majority by the National Assembly; other Senators shall be selected by non-universal, indirect and by means of secret ballot.
