Phnom Penh (FN), April 19 – Rin Chhay Pawnshop filed a lawsuit to Phnom Penh Municipal Court (PPMC) in early April against Thach Setha, president of the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Association (KKKA) for mortgaging KKKA’s land for a $33,400 loan.

A representative of Rin Chhay pawnshop, Hay Vanrin, said that in December 2015, Thach Setha borrowed $33,400 for personal reason and claimed that he had five properties and land to deposit.

Later on January 1, 2016, the company signed a contract loan with Thach Setha with depositions of five plots of land and house, certified by Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction.

The representative added that Thach Setha claimed that the above five immovable properties are his legitimate possession and do not relate to any third party, including his successors or any liabilities.

Later, the pawnshop realized that the above five properties are the assets of the KKKA. The shop filed lawsuit to the court to punish Thach Setha with legal procedures and a compensation of $53,400.
