Phnom Penh (FN), April 9 – Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Sen wrote in a wish letter to all Cambodians, dated on April 3, 2018, that Cambodia’s industrial and handicraft industry currently has more than 1,500 factories, mostly are garment and footwear factories, and 39,000 small and medium enterprises, which requires more than 1 million workers.

The premier added that in line with the industrial growth, the Royal Government has paid close attention to workers in the private sector, increasing the minimum wage for garment workers to $170 in 2018, excluding other benefits from the implementation of the social protection policy of the Royal Government.

At the same time, the Royal Government also offered other benefits to workers, including free medical check-up and treatment, and free public bus services.
