Kampot (FN), April 4 – As of April, Cambodia has yet harvested salt due to unfavorable weather. Salt is normally harvested at beginning of January, according to Ly Seng, president of Kampot Salt Association on Thursday.
"Farmers gained no income, as salt production is not fruitful. This year, it was raining non-stop even in dry season," Ly said.
“This year, our supply to the market will be insufficient,” he added.
According to Ly, salt production in 2017 also decreased. With additional salt in stock, it could fulfill the market demand. This year, however, there is only 50,000 tons available in stock which can sustain until October only.
