Sihanoukville (FN), April 5 – The Royal Government of Cambodia has issued a sub-decree on granting 500 hectares of land in the districts of Koh Rong and Kong Rong Sanloem to 298 families of permanent settlers on the islands, according to the decree signed by Prime Minister Hun Sen on Wednesday, which is believed to be a Khmer New Year’s gift.
Koh Rong is located 25 kilometers off the Sihanoukville coast in the Gulf of Thailand. The island has an area of approximately 78 square km and 43 km of beaches. Currently, there are four small villages and also home to more than a dozen foreign-owned guesthouses and bungalows.
Kong Rong Sanloem is today one of the top island to visit in Cambodia after Koh Rong. It has been recently named by Huffington Post like one of the places that tourist must visit. The island is located 4 km south of Koh Rong. Koh Rong Samloem is a 9 km long and 5 km wide, where you can enjoy scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing; trekking into the jungle, or Kayaking.
