Phnom Penh (FN), April 4 - Cambodia requires at least $406 million of assistance to completely clear landmines and unexploded ordnances by 2025 on an approximate area of 1,970 square-kilometer, according to Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA)' press release entitled "Together against Mines" on International Day of Mine Awareness on Wednesday.

From 1992 to 2017, Cambodia had cleared more than 490 million units of all types of mines on 1,562 million square meters of land, according to the report.

So far, Cambodian Mine Action Center had detected and demolished 1,047,447 anti-personnel mines, 24,618 anti-tank mines and 2,713,606 war-related explosives, and reduced the number of victims from 4,320 in 1996 to 58 in 2017.

The Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to remove all landmines by 2025 in accordance to the goal of the United Nations.
