Phnom Penh (FN), March 23 - Cambodia and Thailand planned to open four new border gates to facilitate trade between the two countries, according to Defense Ministry spokesman Chhum Sochea on Friday.
The new international gateways include: Phnom Dei border checkpoint of Cambodia’s Battambang province and Thailand’s Sa Kaeo province; Anses international gateway, connecting Preah Vihear with Thailand’s border; Chub Koki international gateway, connecting Cambodia’s Oddar Meanchey province and Thailand’s Buri Ram province, and Thmor Da border checkpoint between Cambodia’s Pursat province and Trat province of Thailand.
General Chhum Socheat informed that an Phnom Dei checkpoint will be launched on March 30, 2018, and three new international border gates will be followed.
The agreement was made during the 13th General Border Committee (GBC), which was held from 20-21 March 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand, chaired by General Prawit Wongsuwon, Defense Minister of Thailand and Cambodian Minister of Defense Tea Banh.
