Phnom Penh (FN), March 14 - The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) will organize a photo contest entitled "The Angkor Wonder Selfie Contest” during the Equinox, according to the ministry's announcement on Tuesday.

According to the contest rules, the three winners will receive award certificates and prizes. The first place winner will be awarded $250, the second place winner will receive $200, and the third place winner will get $125.

The equinox is a phenomenon when the sun rises upon the middle summit of Angkor Wat Temple. It is an astronomical event in which the plane of Earth's equator passes through the center of the Sun. This event happens twice per year.

The equinox over Angkor Wat portrays the wonder of Cambodia’s tangible cultural heritage, built by Khmer ancestors with a clear vision connected to this natural phenomenon.

The equinox will occur from 5:00am to 7:00 am from March 20-23, 2018.
