Phnom Penh (FN), March 7 - Ky Tech, a lawyer for Prime Minister Hun Sen, said on Tuesday, that the Appeal Court decided to uphold the decision of the Phnom Penh Municiple Court (PPMC).
"Sam Rainsy was sentenced with a fine of $2,600 to a state budget and was ordered to compensate approximately $1 million to the plaintiff", according to the decision of the PPMC.
Sam Rainsy was charged for defamation. He accused the premier of paying $1 million to Thy Sovantha, former youth activist for Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), to rebel against CNRP.
Ky Tech, PM Hun Sen’s lawyer, filed a lawsuit against Sam Rainsy on January 18, 2017.
