MOGADISHU, March 2 (Xinhua) — Several people were feared dead and others injured after extremist group Al-Shabaab launched two terror attacks outside Somali capital of Mogadishu on Friday, the police said.
A police officer who declined to be named said a suicide car bomber targeted Somali military camp in Afgoye located about 30 km south of Mogadishu in the first attack.
He said a suicide bomber driving private vehicle hit the military base on the outskirts of Mogadishu used by Somali troops.
He said the militants later captured the strategic Balad town, about 30 km north of Mogadishu which borders Afgoye in the second attack after overpowering security officers.
The Al-Shabaab militants has not claimed responsibility for the attacks yet.
