Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 22 - The Royal Government of Cambodia has managed to provide $430 million for sub-national administration to contribute to country's development, according to Prime Minister.

The statement was made at the closing of ceremony of "Decentralization and Deconcentration, Experiences, Challenges and Future Vision" at Koh Pich on Thursday.

"Cambodia did not sit back and wait for anyone to help to donate money to the sub-national administration required for development,” said the premier.

Last year, Cambodia transferred over $2 billion, but this year the Ministry of Economy and Finance managed to provide only $430 million.

The government not only provided annual budget, but also implementing projects, including roads, bridges, canals and other projects.

Prime Minister Hun Sen also urged the sub-national level to use the national budget effectively and wisely.

He added that empowerment at the grassroots level will increase the accountability and better address the concerns of the local people, which is the desires of the Royal Government.
