Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 21 - Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFA) on Wednesday announced the result of providing assistance to 11 Cambodian workers in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
Eight of them have been illegally working in Malaysia, one in Singapore, and two others went to logging in Thai territory and were arrested by Thai authorities, according to the MoFA’s statement released on Wednesday.
The Cambodian ambassador to Malaysia worked with the Malaysian authorities to repatriate eight Cambodian workers working legally in Malaysia and they returned to Cambodia on Feb. 17, 2018.
Cambodian ambassador to Singapore worked with the Singaporean authorities to repatriat one Cambodian worker. The embassy also provided accommodation and food. She arrived in Cambodia on Feb. 10, 2018.
Thailand Consulate General in Sakeo province is taking a legal action on the two Cambodian workers currently detained by Thai authorities.
