DAMASCUS, Feb. 10 (Xinhua) -- Syria's air defenses targeted several Israeli warplanes, which had launched airstrikes against a Syrian military base in central Syria on Saturday, the country's state television reported.

The report said that the air defenses hit the Israeli warplanes that have targeted a military base in central Syria, but gave no further details.

Other reports by local media outlets said that an Israeli F16 went down in the northern part of the country as a result of being shot at by Syria's air defenses, adding that the Israelis targeted the T4 airbase in the central city of Homs.
