Takeo (FN), Feb. 1 – Over 100 garment workers fainted in Seduno Cambo Knitting Factory on Thursday in Bati district, Takeo Province, approximately 70 km south of Phnom Penh, according to General Commissariat of Provincial Police Sok Samnang.

General Sok Samnang said the fainting was caused either by the smell of agricultural chemical use near the factory or domino effect of mental issue as they saw one worker fainted.

The garment workers have been sent to the Bati District Hospital while 10 fatal victims have been sent to the Provincial Hospital.

The local authority confirmed that this is the second faint case in this factory while the first case occurred on Jan. 30, 2018.

A working group from Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training (MLVT) and authority will investigate the case this afternoon.

The factory has 1,650 garment workers, 92 are men.
