Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 30 – Spokesman of Ministry of Defense Chhum Socheat, on Tuesday, said that the request to initiate Cambodia National Rescue Movement (CNRM) with the help from the Royal Cambodian Armed Force (RCAF) is a stupid daydream.

The warning was made after Sam Rainsay, founder of CNRM, called for assistance of RCAF at the ceremony to launch CNRM officially on January 28, 2018 in Long Beach, California, the United States.

Chhum Socheat stressed that “the RCAF has a strict discipline, loyalty and sacrifice to protect the incumbent government, nation, religion and king; RCAF is ready to abide the order of the government of Prime Minister Hun Sen to eliminate and prevent any movement which aims to jeopardize security, peace and stability of Cambodia”.

Sam Rainsy stated that if the armed forces are not neutral and that they abide the order of dictator and shoot to kill the citizen, we cannot propose the citizens to stand up for strikes and demonstrations.

During the annual meeting of Royal Gendarmerie of Cambodia on January 23, 2018, Defense Minister Tea Banh warned to eliminate CNRM if exists in Cambodia.
