(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet revealed that he privately visited frontline troops and displaced people during the 2025 border conflict with Thailand, saying he avoided publicising the visits to prevent additional difficulties for soldiers.
The premier spoke on Wednesday (Oct. 7) while presiding over the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the University of Health Sciences in Phnom Penh.
“I went to meet displaced people, and in some places I went to see the soldiers there, but I simply did not release the photos,” he said.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that he closely monitored the conflict and directed government assistance for affected civilians, including the construction of around 5,000 houses for displaced people.
