(Phnom Penh): Cambodian First Lady Pich Chanmony Hun Manet reminded medical students that healthcare professionals bear a profound responsibility for protecting human lives beyond earning degrees or holding positions.
Speaking on Tuesday (Oct. 6) at a scientific conference marking the 80th anniversary of the University of Health Sciences (UHS), the First Lady stressed the importance of professionalism, compassion and accountability in healthcare.
“Becoming a health professional is not merely about obtaining a degree or a position. It carries a great responsibility for human lives,” she said.
She added that the contributions of UHS graduates reflect Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s vision that people's health is a vital national asset.
On the occasion, Pich Chanmony praised UHS for eight decades of training healthcare professionals and urged the institution to continue promoting excellence, innovation and integrity.
Established in 1946, UHS remains a key institution in developing Cambodia’s healthcare workforce and strengthening the national health system.
