(Phnom Penh): Cambodia and North Korea reaffirmed their longstanding friendship and pledged to deepen bilateral cooperation as the DPRK marks its 78th founding anniversary.

Speaking at a reception in Phnom Penh on Monday (Sep. 7), North Korean Chargé d’Affaires Pak Chol Jun highlighted the historic friendship established by King Norodom Sihanouk and Kim Il Sung, saying ties have developed positively for more than six decades.

Representing the Cambodian government, Information Minister Neth Pheaktra congratulated North Korea and expressed confidence that bilateral relations would continue to strengthen for the mutual benefit of both peoples.

Cambodia and North Korea established diplomatic relations on 20 December 1964, marking their 60th anniversary in 2024.
