(Phnom Penh): Cambodia has allocated an initial USD 10 million to expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging network, focusing on public spaces and tourist destinations where private investment remains limited.

The funding, managed by Electricité du Cambodge (EDC), was announced by Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rottanak during the signing of an MoU with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

Under the initiative, the government and EDC will identify suitable locations for new charging stations, including parks, community centres, recreational areas, and other public spaces in underserved areas.

This strategic investment aims to accelerate EV adoption by improving charging accessibility and strengthening Cambodia's EV infrastructure.
