Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 23 – Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong, on Tuesday, criticized the request and proposal of Eng Chhai Eang, Former Vice President of Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP), asking the international company to stop purchasing the products of Cambodia.
Hor Namhong considered the action as opposing the nation and people.
Deputy Prime Minister said that “the request is the action against millions of people, not just those who work in textile and footwear factories, but other millions of people who are their family live in the villages across the country that receive the support from the worker” adding that “I think the request is a treason of former leader of opposition party in Cambodia”.
“Does any opposition party in the democratic society in the world do like this,” he asked.
Eng Chhai Eang recently called for and proposed companies in the United States and European Union to stop purchasing all products of Cambodia.
Through Radio Free Asia, Eng Chhai Eang said that “we tell them to be aware that the products they buy and the loan they offer to the government of Hun Sen will not contribute to hand of the people, it granted opportunity to Hun Sen to pressure on democrats, civil society, dissolve CNRP, and arrest our leaders”.
