(Phnom Penh): The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), organised the “Validation Workshop on the Institutional Needs Assessment and Potential Projects Identification for the PPP Masterplan,” on Tuesday (Jun. 2) at the Shangri-La Phnom Penh Hotel.
The workshop was presided over by Meas Soksensan, Secretary of State of the MEF, representing Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, and by Yasmin Siddiqi, ADB Country Director for Cambodia.
The workshop was attended by the representatives of 10 (ten) relevant ministries and institutions and ADB key experts, with a total of approximately 80 participants.
The workshop aimed to validate and discuss the institutional gaps and challenges identified through the Institutional Needs Assessment, identify priority support needs to advance PPP project preparation and implementation, and strengthen cooperation with relevant ministries and institutions to advance Cambodia’s PPP development.
During the workshop, representatives from ministries and institutions presented potential infrastructure projects to be developed under the PPP framework, together with key implementation challenges and priority areas requiring further support.
Discussions also focused on major bottlenecks affecting PPP project preparation and implementation, as well as the strengthening of coordination mechanisms between MEF and the line ministries to support effective and sustainable PPP project development in alignment with the Pentagonal Strategy to achieve Cambodia Vision 2050.
The inputs and recommendations received during the workshop will contribute significantly to the development of the PPP Masterplan, which is envisioned as a strategic and operational roadmap for strengthening Cambodia’s infrastructure development through PPP over the medium and long terms.
