Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 18 – Kuch Kimlong, deputy prosecutor of Phnom Penh Municipal Court, decided to charge venerable But Buntenh, Pa Ngoun Teang and Meong Tola, former board of Kem Ley foundation of “violating confidence”, according to article 44 and 124 of Penal Code.
The decision was made in response to the lawsuit by Pich Sros, president of Cambodian Youth Party (CYP).
Pich Sros, on September 8, 2017, filed a lawsuit over venerable But Buntenh, Pa Ngoun Teang and Meong Tola to seek the truth on the fund of the commission which donors, both domestic and abroad, contributed to the funeral of Kem Ley.
The lawsuit of Pich Sros was made after the mother and younger brother of Kem Ley emphasized the shortage of funds to organize the funeral.
Venerable But Buntenh, Pa Ngoun Teang, and Meong Tola was put under inspection and temporary detention to prevent or diminish the crime not to happen again and ensure the protection of the suspects to the court for taking legal action, according to the court’s order.
