(Washington): On the morning of 20 February 2026, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call and had a discussion with Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye, during his visit to Washington, D.C., to attend the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace.

During the meeting, the Turkish foreign minister thanked Samdech Thipadei for allowing him and his delegation to pay a courtesy call and hold discussions. He highly valued the progress of relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Türkiye across many key sectors.

Taking this occasion, he respectfully invited Samdech Thipadei to pay an official visit to the Republic of Türkiye at a any appropriate time, with the aim of further advancing and strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Beyond bilateral ties, the Turkish foreign minister also expressed interest in gaining deeper insights into the Cambodia–Thailand border dispute, particularly its root causes. He conveyed his hope that Cambodia and Thailand would be able to achieve long-lasting peace in the future.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei expressed satisfaction with the growing relations and cooperation between the two countries and reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to continue working with Türkiye to further strengthen and expand bilateral ties. He also underscored Cambodia’s policy of diversifying cooperation partnerships across all sectors globally.

Samdech Thipadei briefed the Turkish foreign minister on the root causes of the Cambodia–Thailand border dispute, recent developments on the ground, and Cambodia’s position to resolve border issues peacefully, based on bilateral agreements, existing conventions and treaties, and international law.

In conclusion, both sides further discussed exploring new opportunities to strengthen and expand cooperation in key areas, including trade, economy and investment, security and defense, as well as education. They also exchanged views on regional and global cooperation, particularly within the ASEAN framework.
