(Phnom Penh): The Ministry of Environment has taken legal action against JIAGUO AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGY (CAMBODIA) CO., LTD., a mango processing company located in Trach Village, Kampong Chen Cheung Commune, Stoung District, Kampong Thom Province, after authorities found environmental violations linked to the company’s operations.
According to the Ministry, inspections revealed that the company had discharged untreated wastewater into the environment, causing environmental impacts in surrounding areas. The company was also found to be operating without the required environmental legal documentation and had failed to install proper environmental treatment systems in accordance with technical standards.
The Ministry of Environment stated that the enforcement measures were carried out in accordance with Articles 156, 161, 173, and 668 of the Environmental and Natural Resources Code. Authorities have ordered the company to immediately comply with several corrective measures.
The company has been instructed to immediately stop all forms of polluted wastewater discharge and to construct a wastewater treatment system that meets environmental technical standards. In addition, the company must prepare and submit an Initial Environmental Impact Assessment (IEIA) report and improve its boiler emission control system to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
The Ministry also requires the company to compensate for environmental damage based on actual assessments. Furthermore, the company has been ordered to properly manage mango peel and seed waste and is strictly prohibited from burning any type of waste.
Officials emphasized that the legal action aims to ensure compliance with environmental laws, protect public health, and safeguard natural resources through responsible industrial practices. The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening environmental monitoring and enforcement against businesses that fail to meet national environmental standards.
