Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 10 - The Supreme Court, on Wednesday, decided to continue detaining Kim Sok after he was denied the second release on bail.
The trial was chaired by Head of Judge’s Council, Kim Sathavy and Deputy Prosecutor General Chhun Chanda.
In July 5, 2017, the Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court's (PPMC) to deny the first bail for the imprisoned political and social analyst, Kim Sok.
The Supreme Court announced the verdicts of Kim Sok's cases, which include a rejections of Kim Sok's release on bail as well as defendant's request to meet with plaintiff, according to Ky Tech, the premier’s lawyer and the plaintiff.
Kim Sok was detained by the PPMC on charges of public incitement and defamation on March 2017, after Ky Tech filed a lawsuit. He was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment and compensated $200,000 to the plaintiff, Prime Minister Hun Sen under the accusation on “incitement and defamation” according to article 494, 495 and 305 of Criminal Law.
Kim also has been sued in another case by the premier for accusing the government for initiating a killing system and never have found the murder.
