(Phnom Penh): Forbes Travel Guide has officially recognized Cambodia’s Angkor Empire Marathon as one of the “12 Marathons Worth Traveling For in 2026.” The list was published on January 16, 2026.
The guide highlights the world’s most scenic and destination-worthy races that “inspire globetrotters to lace up and run 26.2 miles.” Cambodia’s flagship marathon is featured alongside globally renowned events such as the Big Sur Marathon and the Great Wall of China Marathon.
Angkor Empire Marathon

Now in its 11th edition, the Angkor Empire Marathon welcomes more than 4,500 runners from around the world. The 26.2-mile course winds through the UNESCO-listed Angkor Archaeological Park, passing forest rice fields, traditional villages, and more than 40 ancient temples.
The race’s most iconic highlight is Angkor Wat, the world’s largest religious structure and a masterpiece of Khmer architecture, offering runners a once-in-a-lifetime setting.
