Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 3 - Phnom Penh Municipal Court investigating judge on Wednesday morning questioned James Ricketson, a 68-year-old Australian filmmaker, charged with gathering information that could jeopardize Cambodia’s national defense.
James Ricketson was arrested by the immigration police on June 3, 2017, for allegedly flying a drone at an election rally of the opposition party on June 2. He was accused of spreading Cambodian information to overseas without permission from the authorities.
He is subjected to face a 5 to 10 years imprisonment based on Article 446 of the Cambodian Criminal Code, which involves “receiving or collecting information, processes, objects, documents, computerized data or files, with a view to supplying them to a foreign state or its agents, which are liable to prejudice the national defense”.
