(Phnom Penh): Cambodian Ministry of Tourism solemnly and unequivocally condemn the inhumane and extremely brutal acts committed by the Thai military, which have violated the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Cambodia since 7 December 2025, using F-16 and T-50TH fighter aircraft, weapons of all kinds, and toxic substances, carried out with aggression and indiscriminate, savage force. As a result, civilians have been killed and injured, numerous homes have been destroyed, and students, the elderly, and the general population have been forced to flee their homes, according to a petition seen by Fresh News on Friday (Dec. 26).
The Thai side has repeatedly violated the Joint Statement on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand, which was signed by the Prime Ministers of both countries on 26 October 2025, in the presence of Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, and Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia and the rotating Chair of ASEAN, as witnesses. This act of aggression has severely undermined peace and stability in the Mekong sub-region and the ASEAN region, and constitutes a serious violation of the ASEAN Charter, the United Nations Charter, and international law. It has had grave consequences for regional and global peace, the international order, human rights, and the livelihoods of the civilian population.
The ministry called upon the international community to firmly condemn the violations of the above-mentioned Joint Statement and Thailand's unlawful actions, and to demand that the Thai side immediately cease all hostile acts that threaten peace and stability in the region. The ministry further urged Thailand to return to full respect for the Joint Statement on the Peace Agreement between the two countries and to comply strictly, faithfully, and in good faith with international law.
The Ministry of Tourism, together with the entire Tourism Family, called upon all Khmer citizens, both at home and abroad, to continue to unite in solidarity and to support all measures undertaken by the Royal Government of Cambodia in resolving the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute, and to unequivocally condemn the inhumane and extremely brutal acts committed by the Thai military that have violated the sovereignty of Cambodia.
