(Phnom Penh): On Wednesday (Dec. 10), Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen called on philanthropists to contribute materials and financial support through the Royal Government to assist the armed forces and displaced civilians.
Samdech Techo said that one soldier from the frontline requested that people donate ambok (flattened rice) rather than instant noodles, expressing that consuming freshly harvested ambok would boost strength to fight against invading forces.
Samdech Techo wrote on his social media on Wednesday (Dec. 10).
“Please extend words of care and solidarity to all branches of the armed forces who have stood and continue to stand bravely to defend our territory against the invading aggressors. Please also share the hardships faced by our displaced citizens who have been forced to flee because of the invaders.
My sincere thanks to the philanthropists who have provided material and financial support through the Royal Government, as well as those who have directly donated to the armed forces and displaced civilians.
I saw a request from a soldier at the frontline asking for ambok rather than instant noodles. I find this request reasonable; however, I believe noodle donations should continue alongside additional ambok support.
New rice is being harvested now. I appeal to philanthropists to buy rice to make ambok or purchase ambok from the people and distribute it to soldiers or displaced civilians. For packaging, it should ideally be in 1 kg or 2 kg bags so each soldier can carry it personally. If packed in sacks or cartons, it will be difficult to distribute at forward positions. Eat freshly harvested ambok and fight against the invaders.”
