Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 27 - The Department of Communicable Disease of the Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday the spread of bird flu H5N1 in Kampong Thom province following the outbreak in Prey Chor District, Kampong Cham Province.

The Ministry of Health urged the public to take precautious steps such as cooking properly and not eating dead chicken, duck or other birds, especially in the upcoming events, such as new year.

From 2005 to 2014, there have been 56 bird flu cases and that 37 were dead.

The ministry urged any patients who had fever, coughing, sore throat, shortness of breath, tiredness and has been in touch with dead birds for a period of 7 days must visit nearby hospital immediately for treatment.
