Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 26 - Sok Eysan, Spokesman of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), on Tuesday, reflected that Walmart's commitment to ordering products and increasing the investment in Cambodia disgraced the former opposition party, who tried to stop foreign countries from importing Cambodian products.

The reflection was made in response to former opposition party's effort to interrupt Cambodian economy by foreign economic sanctions.

Recently, Kem Monovithya, Kem Sokha's daughter, and other former leaders of the main opposition party continued to urge the European Union to impose economic sanctions on Cambodia.

They proposed the EU to cut off tax preferences and shut down imports from Cambodia. These acts will affect the livelihood of millions of garment workers and Cambodian economy as a whole.

CPP spokesperson thanked Walmart Company for encouraging more Cambodians to be hopeful for their future work.

"As we mentioned in the meeting, Cambodia is a key sourcing market for Walmart. We are Cambodia's leading exporter of footwear, and second leading exporter of apparel. Next year, we hope to begin to export travel products," Walmart stated in the letter.

According to Walmart's letter, Cambodia is a "beautiful country" that values peace, stability, and development as a key factor and Walmart shared that same vision.
