Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 20 – Pascal Lamy, former director-general of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and currently an inter-ministerial delegation to the WTO visited Cambodia on December 20, 2017 to announce the candidacy in competing for the host country of 2025 World Expo, according to the French Embassy's announcement.
France had hosted five major world exhibitions in the 19th century, and hosted an international exhibition on modern art and technology in 1937.
Pascal Lamy said that the World Expo is also an opportunity for French citizens and the country to redesign their openness to the world and French adherence to the universal values
The host country will be officially selected in November 2018 through the elections of 170 members of the International Exhibition Office, including Cambodia.
