Vientiane - Laos (FN), Dec. 20 - Electricite Du Cambodge (EDC) has signed an agreement with Electricite Du Laos (EDL) to temporary buy electricity from Laos in response to electricity shortages in Preah Vihear, Kampong Thom and Oddar Meanchey provinces.
The agreement on the high voltage transmission of 115 kilowatts of electricity from Laos was signed between Keo Rattanak, Director General of the EDC and Laos Electric Power Company, held in Vientiane, Lao PDR, on Tuesday.
The imported electricity will ease the lives of Cambodians and reduce the electricity cost from 1,100 riel/kWh to 780 riel/kWh in 2018.
Meanwhile, EDC issued a notice confirming that 115 kilowatts of high voltage electricity lines from Preah Vihear to Laos were built completely, and he called people to be cautious, as EDC was testing the transmission of electricity through the 115 kw transmission line.
